Farnborough Residents Celebrate Great Big Green Week
20th July 2023
Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park welcomed Farnborough residents to Queen Elizabeth Park in June as part of Friends of the Earth’s nationwide Great Big Green Week celebrations. Everyone enjoyed their picnics in the sun while local musicians from Farnborough’s 3UA ukulele band entertained with a medley of much-loved sing-along songs. In a nod to Father’s Day, each piece fittingly included a male character.
The event also marked the end of Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park’s “Letters to Tomorrow” competition which saw Farnborough residents invited to post a letter on the theme of climate change. The winners were announced with Clara from North Camp, Alan (local resident), Alexandra-Elise aged 6 and Sebatian aged 4 each winning book tokens in their various age categories. All participants also took part in a Green Photograph Quiz with winners taking away prizes.
“It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the park and singing along to the music,” said Kathryn Stuart, Chair, Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park. “It was also a fun way to get us thinking more about climate change and the small steps we can all make to protect the environment.”
