Tree Work Around the Pond

3rd September 2024

The Council have instructed an approved tree contractor to remove approximately 10 trees sited on or adjacently to the pond bank.

This is part of the pond restoration work. It will allow more light to penetrate the pond and ensure that less leaf waste accumulates in the water.

The trees to be removed are mostly self-sown young, small diameter willows. They are already starting to collapse into the pond due to the high frequency of failures associated with this species.

The mature oak trees to the south of the pond will have the dead wood removed to reduce the likelihood of branches falling.

The tree works will be completed by the middle of September before the earthworks begin.

The pictures below show some of the trees which will be removed, marked with red crosses.
